Portrait of Lou Shackleton - a woman with long hair and glasses with some added illustrations of a rainbow, rocket, star and notebook

Hello! I’m Lou.

I use design tools, storytelling and questions to help people to discover their intent and then execute it – for themselves, or for their clients.

I love working with people who want to:

  • Get clear on their values and aims in life.
  • Do no harm.
  • Create a positive lasting impact in the world.

You might want to make an impact through your way of life, the work you do, or the organisations you’re part of. Or, all three! Through my one to one work I can help you create the change you want to see.

my superpower: holding space for others

Whether you call it coaching or facilitation or workshops, to me it’s the same thing. Holding space for others to get clarity to that they can make better decisions based on what they already know (but don’t actually know they know). I’m very used to doing this remotely and am happy on video calls or the regular phone.

I’m also a human behaviour obsessive and have a host of experience in bringing disempowered groups in to conversations and activities they are commonly excluded from. This includes people with learning disabilities, people who are Deaf, and people with acquired brain injuries. I also have lived experience of chronic illness and I bring awareness of cognitive load to my work.

A life of many parts

Life is a series of twists and turns – moving from one transition to the next. None of us are just one thing – just a job title, or a single interest.

I have always been interested in art and design, and in people and their behaviour. Growing up, I wanted to be an artist but instead I went to University to study Psychology. My passion for and interest in human behaviour and motivation was sparked. I decided that I wanted to be an International Woman of Mystery. Which brings me to where I am today 😉

I’ve been practicing yoga for over over 15 years. I’m currently obsessed with Forrest yoga, created by Ana Forrest. I’m proud to be mum to Alex, a pandemic baby born in April 2021, and wife to Paul, my childhood sweetheart.

I picked up the ukulele in 2017 and I’ve been playing it badly ever since, and I love doodling.

Pdf’s aren’t the most accessible things, so most of the content in My Story So Far is also in My Work Portfolio and on my LinkedIn profile.
